  1. Humanism was an influence on religious reformers such as martin luther because for Luther humanism meant returning to the study of the bible inorder to educate the people of the truths of God.

  2. I agree with Fatima.
Without the bible people wouldn't be as educated about christian lifestyle and how Christians should act. Luther helped to spread these ideas throughout Europe. Many people got behind him and the bible was translated into many languages so that people could understand christianity as a whole. Without Luther, many people probably wouldn't have followed Christianity and Christian beliefs wouldn't be as strong as they are today.

  3. Humanist wanted to purify popular religion of superstitions and improve education. Martin Luther didn't agree with holding the spiritual leaders to higher standards he thought this would lead to legalism instead of the Gospel.

I agree with Fatima and Amber. Luther liked that this would mean people had to go back to the bible

  4. I agree with Fatima, humanism helps to spread the idea of religion and the reasons to practice it.
Humanism helped religious reformers establish thier religion nationally and internationally which brought more people to the same beliefs as themselves.

  5. Humanism meant going back to the traditional ways of religion and other aspects of life. It influenced Martin Luther and others like him because they thought going back to the older ways of religion would be good for the people and that the old ways were the right ways. I agree with Rosa in that Humanists wanted to purify popular religion of superstitions becuase they did--they thought the popular religion was corrupt and needed to be mended.

  6. I agree with all who mentioned Martin Luther and Lutheranism.

Humanism had an effect on John Calvin also. He believed that God was the ruler of all things. Calvin and several other theologians founded Calvinism which was based on John Calvin's beliefs.

Martin Luther King used humanism to give people a way of guidance. Like the bible tell you how you should live and that's the way we got things through to people.

I agree with Amber with the bible being a way to educate people and how Christians should act.

  10. Humanism played a factor on people such as martin luther because they decided to change back to the way it was in older times where religion was on top and that values were important to the people.

I agree with heaven because it was a time where the people may have been turning away from the old values.

  11. I think Humanism influenced religous reformers by getting rid of any curropted people in the chuch ... Martin Luther started his own branch of religion so he could do just that.

i agree with fatima that martin luther was an aspect of why humanist looked back to the bible because educating the people with the word of god meant that they were going back to the traditional methods from the very beginning.

  13. I agree with many of the people here that Martin Luther hade give the world a guide and understanding for what Christianity was and that make it popular.

I think about it now and wonder if someone hade done the same thing for the other religions, would there have been such descrimination with the Jews or other religions that have had to go through that.

  14. humanism tried to make people go back to the old ways things were to educate them that way so they had a, taste, so to say, of the roots

i agree with Rosa and amber and fatima

  15. i like how trevor mentioned going back to roots. with humanism they reverted back to old practices such as scripture reading. many leaders let this concept influence their teachings by enlightening others with recovered practice and making it fit into the latter-days

Martin Luther used the bible for guidance, he used it to teach the people of the truths of God. Humanism helped to spread the ideas of religion throughout Europe. All in all the bible was used to educate the people.

I agree with who ever has the thinking as I do or said somewhere around what I said.

  25. Humanism helped to spread the idea of religion and the reasons to practice it.
Humanism helped religious reformers establish thier religion and give them the confidence to question and practice new ideas outside of the catholic church. Humanism played a major role in Luther's 5 theses because he gained the confidence to place it on the door of the Catholic church, because Humanism focused on the individual and not just a group.

  26. i agree with meliss because humanism was about the individual aside from the church and it promoted religious freedom within the religion if that makes sense

  28. You know what's hilarious?
I always thought humanism was something that didn't really hole religion so high. It was probably different back the, though...I'm a little lost. I thought the Reformation was when the church went (or was supposed to) back to classic ways of thinking and such...?

x_____x I really can't say much about anyone's comments, other than the fact that I have no idea what they're talking about.

(This makes me looks bad, doesn't it?)

  29. humanism help people like luther shape their ideas on religion because it was goin back to the aspects of humanity. it gave ideas to the reformers to help them succeed

  30. humanism made people create their own ideas and go back to the way humanity was before, like what values they held to a higher standard. Luther made people create their own standards about their religion.

i agree with brandi because without him the word of things wouldnt have been spread.
